The Greatest Fjord
Scoresby Sund in Greenland is the longest Fjord in the world. 350km to be precise. During the recent Ice Age it would have been a large glacier slowly carving a valley through the landscape. Now the main body of ice has retreated and melted to be replaced by the rising sea, also known as a Fjord :)
Whilst working on a project for WWF we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to travel along it. A five hour boat journey through a city of majestic Icebergs, floating silently between explosive movements as they sporadically cracked and carved, changing shape and spinning in the water as their center of gravity shifted. So much presence and character in each one. We all fell in love with them..
