
Though the rain poured down, thousands joined the inspirational ‘People’s Walk for Wildlife’ on Saturday, marching against the devastating decline in UK wildlife over recent decades. The walk ended with fiery aplomb as two of our favourite writers and conservationists, Mark Avery and George Monbiot, spoke passionately about the losses we are suffering but also about a potentially positive vision of the future if we all get our acts together. Chris Packham, organiser of the event, then took his manifesto to end the ‘war on wildlife’ into Downing Street. Let’s hope that someone there decides to act…
